On Wednesday, June 19th, 2024, the election day for the Provincial Government of the US Province took place during their Provincial Chapter in Hawai’i. Three delegates were elected from the Fairhaven Area: Br. Paul Alves, Fr. David Lupo, and Fr. Maiki Kamauoha, to bring the voice of the brothers in this area to the chapter. During the election, Very Reverend Fr. Lane Akiona was re-elected by the delegates to be the Provincial Superior for the next three years, and the former Pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Fr. Stephen Banjare, was elected to be the Vicar Provincial of the US Province.
The delegates nominated three Councilors, who were then voted on. The Chaplain of St. Damien High School in La Verne, California, Fr. Eric Cruz became the first councilor. The second councilor position was filled by Fr. Robert Charlton, the Pastor of Queen of Peace and Our Lady of the Immaculate Heart in Harlingen, Texas. The third councilor, elected by the brothers, was Fr. Maiki Kamauoha, the Pastor Administrator of St. Joseph in Fairhaven, Massachusetts.
The Superior General of the Congregation, Very Reverend Fr. Alberto Toutin, was present at the 5th Provincial Chapter of the US Province and he instituted the newly elected and re-elected members to their offices.
We wish blessings on the Provincial Superior and his government for the next three years as they guide the whole province.
